Job Description
The Instructional Designer is a key member of the Online Training Team and responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality online technical product training. This role sits at the intersection of product technology, instructional design, and modern digital media.
The ideal candidate is a proactive learning professional who can translate technical concepts into clear, engaging, and interactive learning experiences. Success in this role requires solid technical aptitude, creative problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to use modern tools—including generative AI—to support the rapid evolution of Motorola Solutions’ product portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop interactive online training that explains technical concepts, product features, and role-based workflows.
Develop multimedia assets—including videos, animations, simulations, graphics, and assessments—using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Camtasia.
Build strong foundational knowledge of Motorola Solutions’ products, workflows, and solution ecosystem to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
Track product updates and release cycles to update training aligned with product roadmaps.
Collaborate directly with SMEs, product managers, engineers, and technical teams to gather information, validate content, and ensure training alignment.
Manage training assets within a product portfolio, including planning, prioritization, and on-time delivery of updates.
Ensure all training aligns with Motorola Solutions’ brand, accessibility standards, and quality expectations.
Use AI-enabled tools to support scripting, prototyping, media creation, and content optimization.
Analyze training performance using learner data, analytics, and feedback to continuously refine learning materials.
Apply instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to produce modular, performance-focused training experiences.
Basic Requirements
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or related field.
1-3 years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or digital learning roles.
Demonstrated experience developing eLearning with tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Camtasia.
Strong understanding of adult learning principles, performance-based design, and modular content architecture.
Ability to translate technical subject matter into intuitive, engaging learning experiences.
Interest in and experience using generative AI tools for content development or scripting.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
Solid technical writing skills and the ability to simplify complex information.
Experience designing training for technical or product-focused audiences (preferred).
Knowledge of product-based training, scenario-based learning, or performance support frameworks (preferred).
