Job Description

Job Summary:

Do you enjoy training and sharing your experience? Training Integration has an opening for an Instructional Designer with a focus on Ground Systems Software and Tools. The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating compelling functional learning activities and course content, working with subject matter experts to identify training needs, applying instructional design theories and methods, as well as utilizing multimedia tools to enhance the learning process. They also conduct instructional research, develop assessment instruments, and maintain project documentation for effective course development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Assess Ground Systems ECRs for multi-program user training impacts.
  • Coordinate with ISS and SLS users and/or console positions in new training development.
  • Create new Ground Systems training materials for multiple programs that include ISS and SLS.
  • Update Ground Systems training materials.
  • Review ECRs on behalf of Ground Systems Training.
  • Participate in user demos and meetings to collect training feedback and incorporate this feedback into training.
  • Collect user feedback from Payload Operations Integration Working Group [POIWG] semi-annual meeting and follow up with users for status.
  • Provide Ground Systems Training assessments and status updates in various MOSSI II meetings [HARs, BRRs, TARRs, BCIRs, etc.]

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must possess at least three (3) years' work experience in training, coordination, and communications in a science, or engineering based environment.

Skills Required:

Strong interpersonal communication skills are required for working and negotiating with customers, international partners, and peers. The successful candidate is a high energy individual who is an independent worker that asks questions. Individual must have the ability to learn quickly and talk with different groups/individuals to determine Ground Systems Training impacts. Willingness to check and double check work to avoid errors is required. The individual must be easily adaptable to changing priorities and tasks, forward thinking, able to envision the big picture, and a strong problem solver. The candidate should be assertive, professional, confident, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to create presentations and training; input data and equations; create charts and metrics; create documents; and be able to navigate through websites and tools with instruction. 
  • Should be proficient at using the Microsoft Suite of tools.

Other Essential Duties

  • Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)

Other Qualifications

  • US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.
  • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately _+/-10__%.
