The Instructional Designer & Developer position creates dynamic and engaging learning experiences that support Business Solutions initiatives. This role blends instructional design expertise with hands‑on development skills, leveraging emerging AI‑enabled tools to build a wide range of learning solutions, including eLearning modules, job aids, onboarding content, videos, and performance support resources. The ideal candidate can translate complex processes into clear, interactive learning experiences, leverage AI tools responsibly to accelerate development, and apply data insights to continuously improve content effectiveness. They bring strong conceptual design skills, visual storytelling ability, and a collaborative, learner centered mindset. What You Will Do
Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, project teams, and stakeholders to identify learning needs, requirements, and performance gaps.
Apply evidence‑based instructional design principles to recommend effective strategies, methods, and delivery formats.
Design and develop a variety of learning materials—including eLearning modules, job aids, guides, assessments, onboarding content, videos, and performance support tools—to address identified gaps and achieve defined objectives.
Use AI‑enabled tools to support drafting, summarizing SME input, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and creating learning scenarios, ensuring all outputs are accurate, compliant, and high quality.
Audit, update, and maintain existing learning content to reflect current processes, policies, and systems.
Ensure strong visual design by aligning materials to brand standards and creating clear, engaging graphics and layouts.
Verify that all learning solutions meet accessibility, quality, and branding requirements.
Leverage learning analytics, quality data, and user feedback to continuously improve instructional materials and learner outcomes.
Manage multiple learning projects simultaneously, effectively balancing timelines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, OR master’s degree and 5+ years of experience.
5+ years of experience with Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise)
5+ years of experience with video design/editing tools (Camtasia or Adobe Premiere Pro)
5+ years of experience with voiceover creation, including self-recording and use of AI enabled tools (e.g., Camtasia Audiate)
5+ years of experience with Experience using GenAI tools (Copilot) for content drafting, scripting, and workflow acceleration
Qualifications We Prefer
Strong conceptual design and problem-solving abilities
Visual storytelling: Ability to translate dense or technical text into diagrams, visuals, or interactive elements
Ability to work within RTX branding standards and organizational design guidelines, while applying accessibility best practices and WCAG standards to learning content.
Strong understanding of instructional design and learning experience design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s)
Ability to create microlearning, simulations, assessments, and interactive learning content
Ability to design, develop, and implement blended learning programs within a Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring seamless integration of digital and instructor‑led components.
Experience with Workday Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Experience with Graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva)
Experience with Microsoft Office tools with advanced PowerPoint skills
Ability to evaluate, edit, and refine AI generated content
Knowledge of prompt engineering basics

Work Location: This is a hybrid role, eligible candidates must reside within commuting distance of Richardson, TX, Farmington, CT, Charlotte, NC, or Cedar Rapids, IA.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
