Job Description:

The Department of Theatre & Film at The University of Mississippi invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Costume Design and Technology beginning August 10, 2026. This full-time, nine-month position requires a terminal degree and/or equivalent professional experience in costume design, make-up design and costume technology. Responsibilities include supervising/executing costume and make-up/hair designs in collaboration with other faculty, costume shop staff, and student designers each semester at a Research I University; teaching undergraduate costume design, make-up design and costume technology courses at both the lower and upper division; and performing service appropriate to the position including recruitment and participation in shared governance. Additional responsibilities will include oversight of makeup/hair designs for mainstage productions and costume design as needed while mentoring students in both academics and career preparation. The successful candidate will be highly organized, work well with undergraduate students and exhibit strong collaboration and communication skills. The Department of Theatre & Film currently enrolls 120 majors with 30 full time faculty and offers a BA in Theatre Arts and BFA in Theatre Arts emphases in Acting for Stage & Screen and Design & Theatre Production, as well as a BFA in Film Production.
