Job Summary: Reporting to the Principal or administrative designee, the Instructional Aide - supports the delivery of a comprehensive, standards-aligned physical education program by assisting with instruction, ensuring student safety, promoting positive behavior, and fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

 

What You Will Do

Instructional Support & Student Learning

  • Provide instructional English Language Development to students.
  • Use knowledge of reading, the reading process, and mathematics to support individual or small groups of students in oral language development, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, math, and related skills.
  • Use provided core-curriculum materials and lesson plans as directed by the teacher.
  • Conduct guided reading sessions and guide students through comprehension and writing activities to reinforce strategies and skills and student choice.

Student Progress Monitoring and Assessment

  • Participate in regularly scheduled collaborative planning sessions and continuously review assessment data.
  • Correct student papers and/or advise students regarding improvement of work products.
  • Provide detailed feedback about student progress to the teacher

Student Behavior & Engagement

  • Incorporate behavior modification methods when needed.
  • Provide an educationally motivating environment.

Family & Communication Support

  • Provide interpretation services for parent meetings.

Instructional Materials & Administrative Support

  • Organize and maintain instructional materials, testing materials, and files.
  • Perform general clerical duties.

Other Duties

  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) degree; or
  • Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree; or
  • Completion of at least two years (48 semester units or equivalent) of college coursework; or
  • Demonstrated, through a state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and mathematics, as required by applicable law.
  • Previous experience working with special needs students including supporting students' behavioral needs
  • Enjoys working with children and is interested in a career in education
  • Self-starter; computer literate; communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively in a positive manner with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, judgment, stability, and poise. 

Compensation and Benefits:  

  • Salary Rate: $25.15/Hourly
  • Medical, Dental, Life, and Vision Coverage 

Work Schedule:  

  • Monday - Friday | Full-Time
  • 10-Month Classified Hourly Work Calendar | 180 Work Days

Skills Required
