To assist classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of UCA students.  UCA recognizes teaching and the care of children as integral part of the 5-fold ministry given to the church in Ephesians 4:11-13. As such, UCA teachers and instructional aides serve as ministers to help advance the mission and vision of United Christian Academy.

Reports to:  Supervising Teacher and Grade Level Principal directly and indirectly to all authorities to whom the Principal is subject.

Qualifications & Responsibilities

Qualifications:

  •  Must be a born-again Christian.
  •  Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  •  Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.
  •  Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Have an understanding of and commitment to UCA’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s educational philosophy.
  •  Must have good verbal and written communication skills, with proper command of the English language.
  •  Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ideal applicant will have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, have patience, and be able to relate well to children and employees.
  •  Able to work with students of all grade levels (K-12).
  • Preferred applicant should be in the process of becoming professionally prepared to supervise young children, and meet the requirements of the licensing agency.
  •  First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  •  TB clearance within the last four years.
  •  Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
  •  Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form

  •  Shows positive, cheerful attitude with parents, students and staff
  •  Shows integrity in dealing with confidential information

 

Duties/Responsibilities

1.    Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.

2.   Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, including set up and tear down of classroom as needed, setting up learning centers and preparing needed materials and supplies. This will require some heaving lifting, pushing and pulling.

3.   Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.

4.   Supervise children in the cafeteria and/or play areas.

5.   Help with general housekeeping and kitchen tasks.

6.   Complete incident and accident reports thoroughly and in a timely manner

7.   Assist the teacher in any other appropriate ways.

8.   Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the school.

9.   Treat all children with dignity and respect.

10. Participate in professional workshops that work for the improvement of early childhood education.

11. Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.

12. Supervise outside playground activities.

13. Help with the operations of audio/visual aids (projectors, etc.).

14. Follow directions given by head teacher or immediate supervisor.

15. All other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing/walking (70%), sitting (15%), lifting (5%), climbing (4%), bending (4%), squatting (2%). Must be able to lift 15-25 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment includes indoor and outdoor environments, including cafeteria and playground settings. Floating desk assignment and/or shared office space may be required; moderate to high noise levels commensurate to a playground environment.
