Role Definition: The Instructional Assistant holds the responsibility for implementation of teacher created lesson plans for scholars, in collaboration with lead teachers, in an effort to maximize student achievement.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Teach leveled reading groups
• Conduct academic assessments
• Provide instruction in various math and reading drills and activities using learning strategies designed to introduce, reinforce, or modify skills
• Provide supervision and support for students during lunch and Friday Community Meeting
• Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics
• Maintain high behavioral expectations for student behavior
• Enforce Equitas Academy’s positive discipline policies
• Work and assist teachers during the school day with instruction, oversight, and supervision of students
• Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition
• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholders
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• A.A. degree OR two years of college (at least 48 units) OR passage of internal assessment required, BA preferred
• Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test
• At least 6 months experience working with and supervising children
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Current CPR and 1st Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment.
Salary:
$22/hour
