Job Description
Wilshire seeks an Assistant Vice President to be responsible for sourcing and supporting the activities of Wilshire’s Business Development team in the sales of various alternative investment offerings and advisory services. The primary focus will be sourcing new leads, cultivating long-term relationships with key individuals, and closing opportunities with corporate and public plans, non-profits, insurance companies, and other institutional investors. As part of these responsibilities, this Assistant Vice President would be expected to create persuasive pitch decks, formulate market analysis and strategy, assist in contract negotiation, and aid in coordinating implementation efforts.
This individual will help manage the European team including the Analyst/Associate pool in sourcing lead generation, creating proposals, and leading sales pitches.
What you’ll do:
- The role will focus primarily on sophisticated institutional buyers across Europe
- Help raise assets across various investment strategies
- Help expand our growing private markets advisory business
- Effectively articulate the investment philosophy and strategies of Wilshire
- Assist in the sales process from opening the door to closing the sale, by providing the necessary resources to senior management
- Existing direct relationships with corporate and public plans, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, and multi-family offices are preferred.
Qualifications
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
- 5 – 7 years of experience in a business development/relationship management capacity
- 5 – 7 years of investment management and/or financial services
- You will be a self-starter who can identify, prioritize and gain access to new investors within the requisite channels
- Familiarity with private equity, private credit and other alternatives is required as it is imperative that this individual be familiar with the in-depth due diligence process associated with institutional investor commitments within the private markets
- Have demonstrated results cultivating a deep network in the marketplace that has resulted in winning mandates
- Travel may be extensive at times, particularly around targeted fundraising periods which will require more intensive prospecting
