SUMMARY: The Institutional Research Support Analyst serves a vital, foundational role within the Office of Institutional Research, providing comprehensive operational, data wrangling, and administrative support to the Director, the Data Visualizations and Academic Reporting Analyst, and the broader IR team. This position ensures data integrity, maintains data pipelines, manages survey and course evaluation lifecycles, and assists with compliance, accreditation, and assessment workflows to support campus planning and continuous quality improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will manage day-to-day data preparation, survey administration, and cross-functional administrative support to advance institutional reporting and strategic planning. Core duties include:

  • Data Preparation & Pipeline Support: Preps, cleans, structures, and validates complex institutional datasets to directly support the Director and the Data Visualizations and Academic Reporting Analyst in building predictive models, reports, and interactive dashboards.
  • Data Stewardship & Integrity: Champions data stewardship practices across institutional systems, monitoring data integrity, conducting census audit checks, updating cohort tables, and ensuring information consistency.
  • Compliance & Director Support: Assists the Director of Institutional Research and accreditation departments with federal, regional, and state compliance requirements, institutional reporting, and data verification workflows.
  • Survey Administration & Analytics: Owns the administration, technical setup, formatting, and analysis of institutional surveys (including GCTWF, ASPS/PSOL, alumni surveys, and graduation awards processes) using platforms like Qualtrics and SurveyMonkey. Distributes results and prepares comparative year-to-year reports.
  • Evaluation & Assessment Processes: Manages the operational parameters, timeline tracking, and deployment of institutional course, faculty, and clinical evaluation systems.
  • Accreditation & Evidence Management: Supports HLC Assurance Review cycles by coordinating evidence collection, managing tracking logs, uploading narratives, and linking documentation within institutional platforms.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partners with academic and administrative departments to assist in survey design, data collection, and translating raw data into functional administrative utility. Participates in institutional committees representing the department as needed.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Technical Proficiency: Competency in querying, data manipulation, and wrangling via SQL; working knowledge of database environments (such as SSMS); familiarity with statistical software (SPSS or equivalent); and basic familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI or Tableau).
  • Methodology & Assessment: Practical knowledge of web-based survey design, deployment, qualitative/quantitative aggregation, and panel management using tools like Qualtrics and SurveyMonkey.
  • Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including complex spreadsheet functions, data transformation, and organization.
  • Professional Skills: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize competing deadlines under general supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong service-oriented approach to collaborating across university units.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related analytical field preferred.
  • Experience: One to three years of professional data operations, survey management, or higher education administrative experience.
  • Abilities: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Physical Demands: Frequently required to sit and use hands to handle or feel; regularly required to talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach. Must occasionally lift reports, file boxes, and supplies weighing up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision for computer use, transcribing, and reviewing data files.
  • Work Environment: Normal office environment with a usually moderate noise level.
