We partner with some of the most innovative consumer brands and work side-by-side with teams at retailers like Target, Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, Costco, and more to turn great products into high-performing, well-executed businesses. We sit at the intersection of strategy, operations, data, and relationships.

Our Insights Associate is a data-driven retail strategist responsible for translating consumer, category, and performance data into clear growth opportunities for Bluebird and our brand partners. This role sits at the intersection of retail analytics, category strategy, and client enablement—helping teams prioritize the right products, price points, and investments to win at retail. This role supports the entire Bluebird Team by delivering insights that guide assortment, pricing, promotions, and go-to-market decisions.

  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to identify consumer needs, preferences, and motivations.

2. Trend & Market Analysis

  • Conduct market and category research to identify emerging consumer and industry trends.
  • Stay informed on retail and competitive dynamics to anticipate shifts in demand.

3. Retail & Category Opportunity

  • Evaluate the retail landscape to identify assortment, pricing, and category growth opportunities.
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend new items, line extensions, or category expansions.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales, Search, Insights, and Client Teams to align insights with key business priorities and timelines.
  • Support shared KPIs and performance tracking to help drive growth across accounts.

5. Data Storytelling & Reporting

  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling stories through reports, visuals, and presentations.
  • Deliver insights such as market trends, pricing analysis, and category opportunities to inform decision-making.

6. Process Improvement

  • Help build and refine processes that improve how insights are collected, analyzed, and shared.
  • Continuously look for ways to increase efficiency, clarity, and impact of the Insights function.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, Economics, or a related field
  • Experience in retail analytics, category management, merchandising, or buying
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, reporting tools, dashboards, etc.)
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear business recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and challenging existing assumptions
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Self-starter who can operate with minimal oversight and strong ownership

We believe people do their best work when they feel supported — financially, professionally, and personally. That’s why we offer a benefits package designed to reduce stress, create stability, and help you build a future.

Support for everyday life:

  • Monthly parking or commuting stipend for our Minneapolis office
  • Cell phone plan or reimbursement to support how you actually work
  • Hybrid work environment with in-office collaboration Tuesday–Thursday — we believe some of the best learning, problem-solving, and relationship-building happens when teams are together in person, and our Minneapolis office reflects that with an energized culture, a great building, an on-site gym, and a rooftop space to recharge and connect

Health & peace of mind:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • HSA with employer match to help you save on healthcare
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance and life insurance so you and your family are protected

Your financial future:

  • 401(k) with employer match to help you build long-term wealth

We’re intentional about creating a place where you can focus on doing great work — without constantly worrying about what happens if life throws you a curveball.

Our Work Environment

This is a professional, collaborative office-based role with flexibility built in. You’ll spend your time working with data, meeting with partners, and collaborating with teammates — not pushing paperwork. If you want a role where you can learn fast, own real business, and build a career in retail, we’d love to meet you.

Our Commitment

Bluebird prioritizes the inclusion of diverse perspectives. We aspire for all team members to feel like this is a place where they belong. Where they are respected by the company and are empowered to impact the business and achieve their full potential. We understand that relationships built on trust, respect and communication better serve our clients, team members and business.
