About APM Terminals
APM Terminals operates one of the world’s most comprehensive port and integrated logistics networks. We combine global reach with local expertise to provide high-quality services that keep supply chains moving efficiently and sustainably. Our terminals are hubs of innovation, safety, and operational excellence.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to provide robust cross‑functional support to the Berth, Vessel, HOC, and Yard Planning teams by ensuring high‑quality data readiness (EDI/NSD) and accurate daily system reconciliation across all operational platforms (TOS/N4–XPS, Berth Planner, Posidonia, Teleport). The role is responsible for optimizing work sequences and resource allocation ahead of gang nomination, securing operational efficiency and reliability.
Additionally, this position leads Digital Twin simulations and conducts post‑operational performance reviews to identify improvement opportunities, minimize idle time, prevent yard clashes, and support the achievement of targeted productivity levels.
Key responsabilities
- Ensure timely receipt, validation, and processing of EDI/NSD data, resolving inconsistencies and maintaining accurate TOS configuration for each vessel call.
- Coordinate with Berth, Vessel, HOC, and Yard Planners to define optimized vessel work sequences, preliminary crane splits, and gang nomination inputs.
- Prepare and distribute the 24‑hour operational handover pack, including yard allocation, crane strategy, EDI status, exceptions, reefers, empties, and planning instructions.
- Reconcile system data across TOS (N4/XPS), Berth Planner, Posidonia, and Teleport, ensuring full alignment of ETA/ETC, constraints, and operational windows.
- Monitor yard‑health (density, rehandles, zoning) and lead corrective actions to avoid clashes, maintain clean sequences, and support productivity targets.
- Analyze quarterly vessel proformas and collaborate on berth lineup and yard strategy to preserve connections and minimize equipment travel.
- Lead daily and weekly Digital Twin simulations to anticipate congestion, crane conflicts, and yard bottlenecks, implementing preventive measures.
- Validate equipment and manpower availability with Shift Managers; track plan vs. execution and recommend real‑time adjustments.
- Integrate equipment and STS/RTG unavailability into plans and coordinate with Maintenance to minimize operational disruption.
- Maintain alignment with port authority restrictions (channel, weather, manoeuvrability) and ensure accurate updates to Posidonia/APBA.
- Review and enhance SOPs, contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives (Kaizen), and track performance through SQDC and post‑mortem reviews.
- Support the development and refinement of TOS automations (Auto Stow & Expert Decking).
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Supply Chain or related fields
- Minimum 1-year relevant planning/yard strategy experience (2–3 years preferred across berth/vessel/yard planning).
- Proficiency in Navis N4, XPS, Ship Editor and Berth Planner Tool; EDI handling and exception management.
- Analytical thinking; Kaizen/LEAN continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to anticipate issues and create contingency plans and alternative solutions.
- Strong data analysis; proactive problem solving; cross-functional leadership.
- Understanding of safe working practices in marine/terminal operations
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving (Kaizen/LEAN)
- Effective communication and stakeholder management across multiple levels
- Cross-functional collaboration (planning and execution)
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
