Job Summary: This Inside Sales Support role is responsible for supporting the sales team through building automation system design, estimating, proposal development, and project coordination, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements while balancing performance and cost. The position works closely with contractors, engineers, vendors, and internal teams to develop accurate bids, manage project documentation, and support successful project handoffs using expertise in HVAC, controls systems, and mechanical systems design.
Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Systems Controls Design:
- Product Selection: choosing the correct sensors, valves, materials, end devices, etc. with the best performance/cost ratio that meets the product specifications and project needs.
- Network Design: Alerton, Distech, Honeywell, Tridium and new product lines Bosch Building Technologies may acquire in the future.
- Design/Build Assistance: surveying a building and creating the best design to accomplish what the customer needs
- Project Takeoff & Cost Estimation: creating job mark-ups and capturing all costs such as material, labor, & installation
- Subcontract Procurement: contacting installation partners & product vendors for quotes prior to bid deadlines
- Contractor Interaction: willing to have correspondence through calls, email, & virtual meetings with MEP design engineers, mechanical contractors, equipment vendors, and/or installation sub-contractors for project coordination, pricing, or RFI discussions
- Pre-bid Meetings: lead internal meetings with sales and other team members to review and finalize estimated costs prior to bid due date
- Proposal Writing: support sales team with bid proposal preparation
- Document Management: maintaining project folder structures on Bosch Building Technologies’ Server to include downloading construction plans and specifications, job takeoffs, maintaining a record of all addenda and scope changes, archiving information and summaries for project turn-over to operations
- Project Turn Over Meetings: being an active part of discussions for both the technical and intangible features of a contracted project to the engineering & operation teams
- Site Visits: driving to potential work sites to gather information to assist in engineering a system when plans or other documentation may not otherwise be readily available
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Minimum 1 year experience Estimating, Designing, or Installing in the Building Automation and/or Mechanical industry.
- Minimum 1 year of Commercial HVAC experience.
- Experience with control systems, including familiarity with Tridium, Distech, Honeywell, and /or Alerton control systems.
- Understanding of basic computer systems, including the MS Office Suite of products.
- Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Experience in project cost estimation, including material and labor costs.
- Understanding of mechanical systems.
- Understanding of mechanical systems control design.
- Knowledge of product selection for sensors, valves, materials, end devices, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years Estimating in the Building Automation and/or Mechanical industry.
- 2+ years of Commercial HVAC experience.
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, or other related studies.
- Bluebeam, BidTracer, or similar construction takeoff software experience.
- Advanced understanding and experience with mechanical systems controls design.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in network design, particularly with Alerton, Honeywell, Tridium and Distech.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding sequences of operation.
- Experience in proposal writing, effectively communicating value propositions to customers.
- Experience in conducting project turn-over meetings, ensuring a smooth transition to the operations team.

- Must be able to effectively communicate in English, (ie see, hear, speak and write clearly) in order to communicate with colleagues and/or customers
- Manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment
- Sitting, standing, walking in office environments and construction sites
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet)
Working Conditions:
In general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate
- Will be required to be on site with customers or contractors, with or without Bosch Building Technologies colleagues to manage the expectations and deliverables. Sites range from general office environments to new construction.
- Driving to customer sites is required
- Limited overnight travel may be required
