The Opportunity

The Inside Sales Representative plays a critical role in supporting API's mission by driving revenue growth through new customer acquisition, account development, and strong customer support. Working closely with an assigned Regional Manager (RM), this position helps achieve regional sales goals by identifying and pre-qualifying target accounts, assessing customer needs, preparing quotes and proposals, determining pricing, and responding to RFQs, technical inquiries, and customer service requests

What You'll Do

  • Build & Grow Customer Relationships – Work directly with customers to understand their needs, solve problems, and identify opportunities to expand business.
  • Develop New Business – Research and identify prospective customers within your assigned region. Work with the Regional Manager to qualify opportunities and turn prospects into customers.
  • Sell Solutions – Learn API's products and capabilities and help customers determine the right solution for their application.
  • Quote & Close – Prepare quotes and proposals, determine pricing, respond to RFQs, follow up on opportunities, and help move business from inquiry to order.
  • Own the Customer Experience – Process orders, monitor shipments, communicate updates, and help resolve issues when they arise.
  • Use Technology to Drive Sales – Maintain accurate customer information and opportunity pipelines using ERP and CRM systems.
  • Learn the Business – Participate in product training, internal meetings, customer discussions, and manufacturing activities to develop technical and commercial knowledge.
  • Bring Ideas to the Table – Share customer feedback, market intelligence, competitive information, and ideas that can help API improve and grow.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3+ years of sales, customer service, inside sales, manufacturing, distribution, or related experience preferred.
  • B2B sales experience is a plus, but we will train the right candidate.
  • Ability to learn and utilize ERP and CRM systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Even Better If You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, science, technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in B2B or technical sales.
  • Knowledge of pipe, valves, fittings, flanges, HVAC, water works, agriculture, or industrial products.
