The Innovation Strategist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and driving innovative business and technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, reduce cost, and support strategic growth initiatives across the organization

This role partners closely with Operations, IT, Engineering, Transportation, Corporate Functions, and external technology vendors to identify opportunities where emerging technologies, automation, AI, analytics, and process optimization can create measurable business value. The Innovation Strategist leads initiatives from ideation and business case development through pilot execution and operational transition.

This position plays a key role within the AI & Innovation Office by helping transform innovative concepts into scalable enterprise capabilities aligned to business strategy, governance standards, operational readiness, and financial objectives.

Your role on the team:

  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, AI solutions, automation platforms, and operational innovations relevant to logistics, supply chain, transportation, warehousing, and corporate functions
  • Partner with business and operational leaders to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and innovation opportunities
  • Develop innovative strategies, roadmaps, and business cases aligned to organizational goals and measurable business outcomes
  • Lead innovation discovery workshops and solution ideation sessions with stakeholders
  • Research market trends, industry best practices, and competitive capabilities to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation
  • Evaluate AI, automation, robotics and digital transformation opportunities across the enterprise
  • Support the enterprise AI intake and governance process by validating business value, operational feasibility, and implementation readiness
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Global teams to evaluate solution viability and compliance.
  • Assist with defining solution requirements, use cases, workflows, and operational success criteria
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, demonstrations, pilot planning, and proof-of-value initiatives
  • Develop financial models and ROI analyses for innovation initiatives, including labor savings, productivity gains, cost avoidance, service improvements, EBIT impact, and scalability potential
  • Analyze operational and financial data to support strategic recommendations and prioritization
  • Assist in pricing evaluations, profitability analysis, operational impact assessments, and investment planning
  • Present recommendations and executive summaries to leadership teams and governance boards
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including Operations, IT, Engineering, Product Management, Vendors, and PMO teams
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications
  • Support pilot execution
  • Ensure innovation initiatives align with enterprise standards, governance processes, and operational scalability
  • Analyze operational workflows, labor models, inventory profiles, throughput, system utilization, and process inefficiencies
  • Assist in facility process optimization, automation opportunities, and operational design improvements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives leveraging AI and automation.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to measure and validate business outcomes post-implementation
  • Other duties as required and assigned

What you need: (requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology, Business, Operations, Data Analytics, or related field
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in innovation, engineering, operations, logistics, supply chain, consulting, or technology solutioning
  • Experience within logistics, warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, or 3PL environments preferred
  • Experience evaluating and implementing AI, automation, robotics, analytics, or digital transformation solutions preferred
  • Experience building business cases, ROI models, and preferred executive presentations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to evaluate operational processes and identify innovation opportunities
  • Experience working with operational data, KPIs, and business performance metrics
  • Strong understanding of AI, automation, analytics, and emerging technology trends
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and operational concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience managing vendors, pilots, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SQL, visualization tools, WMS/TMS platforms, or process modeling tools preferred
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
  • Innovative mindset with ability to challenge traditional processes
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced and evolving environments
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and execution capabilities
