As an Innovation Engineer in the Ultra Trace Lab, you will support the development of advanced methods, instruments, and automated workflows to detect extremely low concentrations of chemical elements or molecules. Key functions include optimizing high-precision equipment like ICP-MS and LC-MS/MS, reducing background contamination, and translating research prototypes into validated, high-throughput analytical processes.

The role is based in Witterswil, Solothurn (Basel Area), Switzerland, with good public transport connection (Tram 10) and free car parking.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field
  • Proven experience in analytical chemistry
  • Experience with liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectrometry (MS) is an asset
  • Experience in elemental analysis
  • Hands-on experience with ICP-MS/MS is a strong asset
  • Experience in the quantification of analytes at trace concentrations
  • Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and reporting
  • Experience in method development and validation
  • Experience working in an ISO-regulated environment
  • Willingness to learn and apply new analytical techniques
  • Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an advantage
  • Self-motivated, creative, and able to perform effectively under pressure
  • Hands-on mindset with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • EU or Swiss citizenship or valid Swiss work permit
