Network Infrastructure Consultant
RSM is seeking a highly experienced Network Infrastructure Consultant/Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise network and security solutions for mid-market and enterprise clients. This role will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for network architecture, client consultation, solution design, implementation oversight, operational support, and best-practice guidance across routing, switching, wireless, security, SD-WAN, and cloud networking technologies. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong consulting and communication skills and is comfortable engaging directly with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect enterprise network and security solutions aligned with vendor best practices and industry standards.
- Remotely manage and oversee deployment activities involving routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and security infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking, security, and connectivity issues across client environments.
- Provide technical leadership during project delivery, managed services engagements, and escalation scenarios.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, architecture documentation, standards, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Review client environments and provide recommendations for security, resiliency, scalability, and operational improvements.
- Collaborate with project managers, delivery teams, sales teams, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging networking, security, cloud, and infrastructure technologies.
- Identify opportunities to expand client engagements through additional infrastructure, security, cloud, and managed services offerings.
- Effectively manage multiple client engagements and shifting priorities while maintaining a high standard of technical quality.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing strategic network infrastructure guidance and technical expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure environments.
- Current Cisco CCIE certification mandatory.
- Extensive experience with enterprise routing, switching, wireless networking, network segmentation, and security architecture.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies, including VLANs, Spanning Tree, dynamic routing protocols, high availability, and network resiliency.
- Experience implementing and supporting complex network security solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong customer-facing consulting experience.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously with minimal direct oversight
