Joining our wider Security & Infrastructure team, you'll work across a broad technology landscape, helping maintain the foundations that enable the business to operate safely, reliably and efficiently.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity 

If you're someone who enjoys variety, solving practical problems and working across a broad technology landscape, this role offers exactly that. 

As our next Infrastructure Engineer, you'll work across Linux and Windows servers, VMware, automation through Ansible, hardware lifecycle activities and elements of networking. Rather than sitting in a narrow specialty, you'll have the opportunity to work across multiple technologies and contribute wherever your expertise can add value. 

You'll join a dedicated squad working alongside cloud & infrastructure specialists, delivery lead, product owner and technology teams across Contact. It's a highly collaborative environment where communication and teamwork are just as important as technical capability. 

What makes this role interesting is the variety. No two days look exactly the same. You'll work across multiple technologies, collaborate with different teams, and have the opportunity to build experience across a broad technology landscape rather than being confined to a single specialty. 

This role also offers the chance to broaden your enterprise experience, build relationships across the wider technology community, and contribute to work that has genuine visibility and impact across the business. 

Ko wai koe | About You 

We're looking for someone who enjoys practical infrastructure engineering, takes ownership of outcomes, and can work effectively with a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

You don't need to meet every requirement to be successful here. We're more interested in finding someone with strong foundations, a collaborative approach, and a willingness to learn than someone who happens to tick every box. 

What we're looking for 

• Hands-on experience supporting Linux and Windows Server environments 
• Working knowledge of VMware 
• Experience using Ansible or similar automation tooling 
• Experience building, operating or improving infrastructure platforms 
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders 
• A collaborative approach to problem solving and delivery 

Bonus points if you bring experience with 

• Enterprise-scale technology environments 
• Networking or systems administration 
• Physical infrastructure, hardware or data centre environments 
• Technology integration, transformation or migration programmes 

The role may include the opportunity of joining an on-call roster, with an allowance additional to the base salary.

We support flexible working where it works for the individual, the team and the business. Our main hubs are in Wellington, Auckland and Tauranga, and this role is best suited to someone who can work flexibly from one of these locations to enable strong in person connection and collaboration. While we do have smaller sites across other centres of Aotearoa, proximity to a main hub is important for this role.
