Engineered to outperform, Teraswitch is on a mission to provide high-performance infrastructure services for critical workloads. With 20+ datacenter locations around the world interconnected by our low latency global backbone network, we are the class leader in performance bare metal hosting and rapidly expanding into additional infrastructure services.
The JobThe Infrastructure Engineering team at Teraswitch is responsible for the compute, storage, and platform infrastructure that powers our products and internal operations.
This role is focused on designing, building, and operating this infrastructure in a fast-paced service-provider environment. You’ll work across domains (Linux, networking, observability, automation, security), and will be expected to grow into new areas as our roadmap expands. Level will be determined based on relevant experience, technical depth, and demonstrated scope of ownership.
What You’ll DoDesign, build, and operate the compute, storage, and platform infrastructure that powers Teraswitch products and internal operations
Partner with other engineering teams (including Software and Network Engineering) to deliver robust products and services for both customers and internal stakeholders
Improve service reliability through observability, alerting, incident response, diagnostics, and postmortems
Automate system provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management through scripting and configuration management
Contribute to other initiatives as needed, applying your engineering expertise to a range of challenges as we scale
Strong Linux expertise, including administration of production environments
Automation experience - scripting (Python, bash, etc) and/or configuration management (Ansible, etc)
Experience with observability/monitoring systems (metrics, logs, traces, alerting) and using them to enhance production service reliability
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Committed to operational best practices and security by design
You do not need all of these—depth in a few areas plus strong fundamentals is sufficient:
Service / hosting provider experience (multi-tenant systems, automation-first operations, scalable and secure design)
Kubernetes and cloud-native (CNCF) ecosystem experience (self-managed applications and databases preferred). Bonus points for experience deploying and managing self-hosted Kubernetes on bare metal
Cloud-native observability/monitoring (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
Bare metal fleet management / automation exposure (Redfish/BMC tooling, hardware lifecycle management)
KVM-based virtualization platforms (e.g., Proxmox, OpenStack, libvirt/qemu)
Distributed storage platforms (e.g. Ceph, VAST, Weka), or other self-hosted, software-defined object/block storage systems
Database self-hosting and management experience (MySQL, Postgres)
Demonstrated ability to design and operate automation-first infrastructure at scale
Participate in an on-call system supporting critical production systems.
LocationPreference given to full-time onsite candidates in Pittsburgh, PA, followed by hybrid candidates.
