Toradex is a global company strongly focused on engineering & technology. We’re powered by a diverse & uniquely gifted workforce. We pursue the best people to propel our innovative vision of embedded computing and IoT. If you’re interested in being a driving force at an agile technology company, engineering clever computing solutions & helping other companies bring their products to life, we should talk.
Every Toradex Linux image is booted and tested several hundred times on real hardware before it ships. You'll own the system that makes that possible: a hardware-in-the-loop CI/CD pipeline that builds Yocto/Torizon images and validates them on a physical board farm of Toradex SoMs.
The existing setup is a full stack from Jenkins and BuildBot builds to the hardware sitting in shelfs via custom-designed controllers and LAVA. You will work in the team that owns the Software and Hardware infrastructure. You'll keep this farm healthy and fast, extend it to new module families, and help modernize the build layer.
This role spans the whole path: building tester shelves, server deployment, job dispatch, device control down to the hardware, and the reporting that engineers actually trust to gate a release.
This role is based at our headquarters in Horw, Switzerland.
About youYou're an engineer comfortable operating and evolving hardware-in-the-loop CI/CD infrastructure.
You're an engineer who can keep a physical board farm reproducible and healthy, and knows how to debug flaky hardware.
You understand the whole pipeline and can make failures observable, so a boot failure on a real device produces an actionable report instead of a mystery.
You understand business trade-offs and how they live with the release process the infrastructure gates.
You can work in the hardware/software layer, down to power, reset, and recovery lines on the backplane.
You deeply understand Linux or Embedded Linux and keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the OS community.
Solid Python for automation tooling: CLIs, job templating, device control, reporting. Experience in other languages and an appetite to learn is welcomed.
Working knowledge of CI/CD (Jenkins, ideally Groovy shared libraries; GitLab CI), Docker, and container-based deployment.
Comfort close to hardware and embedded Linux boot flows: serial consoles, TFTP/NFS boot, U-Boot, flashing and recovery.
Experience keeping automation infrastructure reproducible and maintainable, with a focus on known-good device state.
Linux systems administration (services, udev, networking).
- Fluent English skills
LAVA or another hardware-in-the-loop / board-farm framework (labgrid etc.).
Yocto / OpenEmbedded / bitbake build systems.
Ansible and infrastructure automation; build-farm scaling (sstate caches, ephemeral cloud workers).
CANopen / fieldbus or other low-level device control (python-can), and basic hardware fluency (reading schematics / KiCad).
- Agile, globally oriented and inter-cultural corporate culture.
- Variety of knowledge sharing, training and self-development opportunities.
- The opportunity to play a key role in shaping your own work processes and your work environment.
- Contemporary employment conditions, modern office space and a flexible working environment.
