Introduction
Vanderlande is the global market leader in baggage handling systems for airports, and sorting systems for parcel and postal services. The Infrastructure Engineer will be working within Heathrow Airports as Shift Infrastructure engineer on 2/7 shift pattern.
Role Responsibilities
This role will create effective and good working relationships with all departments to ensure that customer expectations are exceeded.
Create effective and good working customer relationships to ensure that customer expectations are exceeded, whilst maintaining strong partnerships with customer’s primary contractors
Your responsibilities and activities will be:
- Manage the WINTEL Infrastructure estate.
- Assist in management of the SUSE Linux estate
- Monitor ticketing queue and responds to service requests or incidents. Resolve/escalate infrastructure related incidents in a timely manner minimizing potential disruptions
- Performs routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems as required
- Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends
- Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively
- Support, design, implement and test of disaster recovery routines & procedures
- Follow defined procedures to monitor systems resolve problems or escalate.
- Develop and maintain new and existing procedures
Role Qualification and Skills
- Essential knowledge of Windows Server OS (2008/12/16/19)
- Experience with Suse Linux 12/15 OS
- Essential exposure to Backup/Restore imaging technologies
- Desirable exposure in Windows 7/10/11 desktop OS
- Previous exposure to VMware 5.5/6/6.5 technologies
- Desirable knowledge of PowerShell/VB scripting/Python
- Knowledge of SCADA, but not essential
- Awareness of Load balancing technologies
- Previous knowledge of Resource clustering
- Understanding of Network/Wireless/Routing
- Awareness of Firewall technologies
