Job Summary
The Infrastructure Design Project Manager leads the planning, scheduling, and delivery of complex infrastructure design projects for municipal water and wastewater systems. The role is responsible for developing and executing detailed project plans that address timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, this position ensures plans are realistic, achievable, and aligned with project objectives. The role also monitors progress, identifies risks or potential delays, and implements corrective actions to keep projects on track. Success in this position requires familiarity with linear buried infrastructure design in the water-wastewater industry, along with the ability to provide both project and design management for municipal infrastructure projects while maintaining and strengthening client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership within the team.
- Lead the design process and ensure high-quality outputs.
- Coordinate design teams to support project goals.
- Assist the Project Manager (PM) in the development and implementation of design scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage design resources to ensure efficient utilization.
- Coordinate the creation, submission, and revision of design deliverables to meet project demands.
- Help oversee design quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) management.
- Manage design deliverables in line with project requirements.
- Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Mentorship
- May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team
members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong ability in design process leadership to achieve project goals.
- Highly skilled with the technologies, processes and disciplines included in the projects.
- Strong technical leadership ability and capability to provide guidance to teams.
- Possess design resource management skills, ensuring optimal utilization.
- Skilled in design QA and QC management.
Experience
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of professional or relevant experience, with 2 to 3 years of experience required in design management.
- Licensed Professional Engineer required.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Effective leadership in navigating the design process, from conceptualization to finished product.
- Strong understanding of design processes and project management principles.
- Strong technical leadership and decision making.
- Competency with water and wastewater linear infrastructure design.
- Highly efficient in resource management and coordinating and managing a multi-disciplinary design team.
- Ability to manage several projects concurrently.
- Strong skills in quality assurance and control management, with a keen eye for detail and design standards.
- Previous business development experience (writing winning proposals and successfully pursuing work) is a plus
- Ability to focus on client needs while balancing multiple priorities including but not limited to project management, design, bidding and construction management services.
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture or related professional experience is required.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree with a Civil or Environmental Engineering major
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location A: $129,000 - $177,000
Location B: $142,000 - $194,000
Location C: $155,000 - $212,000
