Job Description:
Under limited supervision, manages the activities and operations required to maintain the Nebraska Judicial Branch’s x86 servers running Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, SAN and associated storage devices, and various other systems in support of the Branch’s IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing statewide activities and operations required to create and maintain the Nebraska Judicial Branch IT systems infrastructure. This includes overseeing system administration, system cybersecurity program architecture, configuration, and maintenance; monitoring system performance; providing technical resolutions for complex system issues; training staff; and providing systems architecture and policy recommendations to senior management.

Salary and Compensation:
Starting Salary: $76,977.40 annually (Hiring Rate).
Immediate Growth*: Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period (if starting at Hiring Rate).
Starting Rate Flexibility: Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval.
*Please Note: Candidates approved to start above the Hiring Rate (at or above the Minimum Permanent rate) are not eligible for the 2.5% post-probation increase.
Future Increases: Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July 1) are subject to State Legislature approval.
Job Duties
1. Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining the Judicial Department’s systems and software.
2. Responsible for planning, architecture/design, and implementation of hardware and software installations, configurations, and decommissions.
3. Responsible for monitoring and maintenance of relevant systems and associated hardware/software and provides support and troubleshooting for those systems when required.
4. Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the secure configuration and operations of all in-place devices to include security tools, workstations, mobile devices, servers and network devices.
5. Assists the Information Security Officer in the design and execution of system vulnerability assessments, system penetration tests, and system security audit.
6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Functional Specific Responsibilities Might Include:
Manages enterprise IT systems and cloud infrastructure, which includes maintenance, testing, system backups, restoring the system after a failure, configuring and maintaining on-prem and cloud systems, creating and maintaining system scripts, installing system software, understanding connections to other computer systems, and answering questions and providing assistance as needed.
Designs, installs, monitors, and maintains system security, which includes implementing security practices, configuring equipment, diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues, and ensuring system security standards are enforced.
Establishes, implements, and maintains system security strategy and requirements.
Develops and implements strategies for server management including monitoring performance; preventative maintenance, problem avoidance, and troubleshooting.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, AND
Experience: 7 years of related experience; or
Note: An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
