Job Summary:

This position serves as the Informatics Specialist for the Great Plains Tribal Health Informatics and Analytics Department, serving the data infrastructure and systems needs of the organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the improvement and maintenance of technology assets that support tribal data access, surveillance, epidemiology, case management, and overall data infrastructure goals.

Essential Functions

The following functions are fundamental to the position and are required of all incumbents, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions define the role and are not an exhaustive list of all duties.

  • Provides overall support for informatics activities as a member of the Great Plains Tribal Health Informatics and Analytics Department.
  • Assists planning and implementing informatics projects by participating in meetings, organizing information, keeping documentation, tracking progress, and making reports.
  • Maintains and monitors progress on project deliverables consistent with, and for, organizational strategic plans and departmental work plans.
  • Maintains user accounts and other administrative roles in information systems, as assigned.
  • Assists with data management in Microsoft Azure, such as performing tasks that support data ingestion, cleaning, ETL pipelines, analysis, visualization, reporting, and exchange.
  • Supports data systems configuration, testing & validation, and troubleshooting to meet project deliverables.
  • Troubleshoots systems and process operations, helps identify and implement solutions for resolution, and maintains supportive documentation through resolution.
  • Collaborates with teams including GPTEC, Informatics, IT, consultants, and tribes to ensure security standards and best practices are followed and monitored; reviews system activity logs and system usage reports; makes reports.
  • Responds to technical assistance and training requests, assists in communication with partners, and maintains documentation.
  • Participates in business analysis, planning, and user design sessions and assists with communications between internal and external partners.
  • Participates in meetings, training, and other partnership opportunities within the informatics domain.
  • Represents all areas of subject matter authority with skill, tact, honesty and professionalism.

Education/Experience

  • Completion of a formal training program or an associate’s degree and one (1) year of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Individuals must have applicable education or experience applying a body of standardized rules, procedures, or operations to perform the full range of standard clerical assignments and resolve recurring problems or to operate and adjust varied equipment for purposes such as performing numerous standardized tests or operations.

This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical demands and work environment may include:

  • Primarily sedentary work is performed in an office or administrative setting.
  • Requires the ability to sit for extended period and regularly use standard office equipment such as a computer, keyboard, telephone, and copier.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching may be required.
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials or supplies up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer use and document review.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and hear.
  • Work is performed primarily in an indoor office or administrative environment.

The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that requires normal safety precautions typical of office settings, including proper use of office equipment and awareness of trips, falls, and fire regulations.



Skills Required

  • Completion of a formal training program or an associate's degree and one year of relevant experience
