We are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Industrial Process Engineer to join our growing Industrial team in Fredericton, NB. This role is ideal for an experienced process engineer with deep expertise in pulp and paper manufacturing and process systems who is looking to play a key role in project delivery, client development, and the continued growth of our industrial practice.

As a Senior Industrial Process Engineer, you will provide technical leadership on complex industrial projects, working closely with clients to develop practical and innovative solutions. You will contribute to all phases of project delivery, from feasibility studies and conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning.

Your key responsibilities: 

  • Lead process engineering assignments for pulp and paper, forestry, tissue manufacturing, and other industrial process facilities.
  • Develop and review process engineering deliverables including process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process calculations, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and automation specialists.
  • Support feasibility studies, process optimization initiatives, facility expansions, modernization projects, and operational improvements.
  • Conduct process assessments, troubleshooting investigations, equipment evaluations, and plant performance reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting proposal development and business development activities within the industrial sector.
  • Provide construction, commissioning, and startup support, ensuring successful project execution and operational performance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of CBCL's industrial process engineering capabilities

Your capabilities and credentials: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration with a provincial engineering association.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial process engineering, with demonstrated expertise in pulp and paper, tissue manufacturing, forestry products, or related industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of process design, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, mass and energy balances, process modelling, and equipment selection.
  • Experience leading feasibility studies, plant assessments, process optimization initiatives, and capital improvement projects.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Strong client relationship management and business development skills, with experience supporting proposals and identifying new project opportunities.

  • Competitive salary: $100,000-130,000 annually, depending on experience.

To meet pay transparency requirements, compensation ranges are included for roles in locations where required by law. The salary range listed for this position represents the expected hiring range; actual starting compensation will vary based on factors such as professional experience, technical expertise, credentials, and alignment with the role's requirements, as well as internal compensation structures and market data. Beyond base salary, CBCL provides a comprehensive total rewards package that includes health and dental benefits and a pension program from your first day of employment, along with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
