Job Summary

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

located on Flex North.

Reporting to the Industrial Industrial Engineering Manager the Industrial Engineer role is responsible for increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently. 

What a typical day looks like:

  • Coordinate and oversee facility maintenance activities to ensure the manufacturing plant remains in safe, efficient, and optimal operating conditions, including building infrastructure, production areas, common spaces, and utilities.
  • Monitor facility conditions and drive corrective actions related to building upkeep, including painting, flooring repairs, glass replacement, lighting, signage, and general infrastructure improvements, ensuring a clean, professional, and well-maintained environment at all times.
  • Provides process time estimation to the quote team.
  • Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineer by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and or adequate tools.
  • During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.
  • Reviews result during protyping and trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.
  • workmeasurement programs and examines work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Examines staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
  • Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
  • May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
  • Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
  • Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.
  • Manages and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Capacity Planning, or Operational Excellence within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing labor and time studies using methodologies such as REFA, MOST, MTM, or equivalent work measurement systems.
  • Strong knowledge of process simulation, manufacturing workflow analysis, line balancing, takt time, cycle time, and direct labor planning.
  • Proven ability to analyze production data, facility layouts, process flows, and resource utilization to drive efficiency improvements.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, and/or Automation projects focused on throughput improvement and cost reduction.
