Position Summary:

Work with the Supply Chain department to develop and sustain efficient operational methods for engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain that improve profitability.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Develop & maintain manufacturing methods within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to ensure accurate costing and planning

  • Develop and maintain the Methods of Manufacture (MOM) "Bill of Materials & Bill of Operations" for products within the ERP system
  • Establish new products in the ERP system to ensure proper material transactions and cost setting
  • Phase-in methods and product structure changes for existing products in the ERP system from Engineering Change Notices (ECN's)

2. Observe, troubleshoot, and take action in production to ensure accuracy and proper execution

  • Review and audit job orders to ensure accurate time reporting and material transactions
  • Analyze material transactions to maintain system effectiveness
  • Develop procedures and work instructions with supporting documentation

3. Provide backup for Planner Buyer

  • Produce job orders and travelers within VMC operations and suppliers
  • Ensure material transactions are executed properly, accurately, and timely

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Database management skills to efficiently sort and upload data
  • Engineering level mathematical skills with respect to data management, statistics, and probability
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Knowledge of process improvement models such as Six Sigma or Kaizen 5S
  • Knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes for design
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

Working Conditions

  • Able to sit at and work on a computer for extended periods
  • Stand in and walk through the factory for extended periods
  • Able to lift 10 pounds and reach & bend to retrieve documents in all areas of the operation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred
  • Proficiency maintaining process and BOM structures within an ERP system
