Nationwide IT Services (NIS), a rapidly growing federal contractor, is seeking an experienced Industrial Control System (ICS) / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Specialist to support a critical Department of Defense mission at Fort Belvoir, VA.
The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting mission-critical Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments by applying cybersecurity best practices, risk management principles, and federal security standards. This role supports the implementation of NIST security controls, continuous monitoring, vulnerability assessment, and the secure acquisition and lifecycle management of ICS and SCADA systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments and will play a key role in safeguarding critical infrastructure.

Position Summary
Nationwide IT Services (NIS), a rapidly growing federal contractor, is seeking an experienced Industrial Control System (ICS) / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Specialist to support a critical Department of Defense mission at Fort Belvoir, VA.
The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting mission-critical Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments by applying cybersecurity best practices, risk management principles, and federal security standards. This role supports the implementation of NIST security controls, continuous monitoring, vulnerability assessment, and the secure acquisition and lifecycle management of ICS and SCADA systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments and will play a key role in safeguarding critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement IT and OT cybersecurity strategies to protect mission-critical Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA environments.
- Apply security controls and governance in accordance with NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-82 and other applicable federal cybersecurity standards.
- Perform continuous monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and cybersecurity risk analyses for ICS/SCADA systems.
- Identify potential exploitation methods, evaluate cybersecurity threats, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support cybersecurity requirements throughout the complete ICS acquisition and system lifecycle.
- Assist with system hardening, security architecture, and risk management activities.
- Collaborate with government personnel and technical teams to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and regulations.
- Develop and maintain documentation supporting cybersecurity compliance and accreditation activities.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in control system network architecture and security design.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in information technology management within industry, government, or consulting environments.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of Certification and Accreditation (C&A) and/or Assessment and Authorization (A&A) experience.
- Experience managing IT projects using Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT service management and enterprise technology strategies.
- Experience supporting and securing:
- Utility Control Systems (UCS)
- Utility Monitoring and Control Systems (UMCS)
- Manufacturing and Distribution Control Systems
- Emergency Management Systems
- Public Safety Communication Systems
- Other operational control systems utilizing specialized protocols, ports, and services
- Experience implementing National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity guidance.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity programs.
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Eligible for a minimum Tier 3 (T3) background investigation.
- Current Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) certification.
- Current DoD 8140 Workforce Qualification certification (Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or higher).
- Experience supporting Department of Defense Industrial Control System (ICS) or Operational Technology (OT) environments.
- Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
- Experience with vulnerability management, incident response, and cybersecurity compliance within federal environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
