This role is based in the Michelin Shared Services Center in Bucharest, Michelin Corporate & Business Services, where more than 1000 colleagues deliver excellence in Purchasing, Finance, Logistics, Sales Administration, Personnel and Service Management.
The Indirect Tax Manager leads a team responsible for indirect tax compliance activities (mainly VAT) across multiple European Group entities.
The role ensures high-quality operational delivery, people's development, stakeholder governance, and continuous improvement, contributing to efficient, compliant and value-driven tax operations within an international Shared Service Center environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 12 people
Supervise the quality of operational activities related to VAT compliance (scope: 20+ European entities), but also Customs and Export Control
Leverage on AI to improve and smooth the VAT declaration process within the organisation
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, and standardization across tax operations, promote and implement digital solutions and automation opportunities
Ensure close collaboration with key partners (mainly Local Tax Managers, but also Group Tax, CFOs, Process Engineers, and other key partners)
Act as a key interface between operational tax delivery and strategic tax stakeholders, ensuring alignment, transparency, and proactive issue resolution
Proactively contribute to identify VAT recovery opportunities and value creation levers
Contribute to transformation projects and development of the SSC tax organization
Foster a collaborative, customer-oriented, and high-performance team culture
Mandatory Skills & Experience
Solid experience in people management and team leadership
8 to 10 years professional experience in VAT
Strong knowledge of indirect tax applicable legislations across Europe (especially VAT/INTRASTAT, and the EU directives) and the stakes of the VAT processes and compliance environment (while the role is not expected to perform operational tax activities directly, the manager should be able to oversee team’s operations, support decision-making, and engage confidently with tax-related topics and different stakeholders);
Previous experience within a multinational consulting and audit company and/or Shared Service Center organization
Proven experience in contributing to digital and continuous improvement initiatives
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, ability to work easily with business partners in main European countries
Fluent English (French would be a plus)
Nice to Have:
Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
Project management / transition projects experience
