What you’ll do:
The Indirect Tax Manager at SRS Distribution will report directly to the Senior Tax Manager and play a critical role in overseeing all aspects of transaction tax compliance and strategy, including managing and developing the compliance team. The role will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation, filing, reconciliation, and payment of sales, use, and other transaction-based taxes. The Tax Manager will also be responsible for resolving tax-related inquiries from internal teams and external taxing authorities.
This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented, and analytical thinker with strong technical tax knowledge and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be expected to manage multiple priorities, leading a team, and collaborating effectively across departments to support organizational goals.
Manage and review the team’s preparation, filing, and payment of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales, use, and other transaction tax returns.
Prepare complex sales and use tax returns and provide support to team members as needed.
Review various transactions and activities to ensure proper accrual of use tax.
Partner with Avalara and other 3rd party vendors to ensure accurate tax calculation at invoicing.
Provide guidance on taxability and rate issues related to sales orders.
Draft and communicate guidance on tax regulations and legislative changes.
Manage refund projects including bad debt-related sales tax refunds and audit response needs.
Reconcile general ledger transaction tax accounts on a timely basis.
Manage team in researching and resolving transaction tax-related notices and inquiries from internal teams and government authorities.
Support audit defense and manage assigned sales & use tax audits from start to finish, including responding to all related inquiries.
Identify process inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Assess risk and implement controls to mitigate transaction tax exposure.
Advise leadership on tax implications of business operations and strategic initiatives.
Set and monitor team goals, objectives, and performance metrics to support personnel development.
Lead or contribute to special projects as assigned.
What we look for:
Advanced knowledge of sales and use tax principles, laws, and compliance.
Strong research and communication skills, both written and verbal.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ideal Candidate will have 5+ years of relevant tax experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Avalara experience
CMI Certification is a plus but not required
