The senior tax account will report to and work primarily with the VP—Indirect Tax. The individual will be responsible for obtaining an understanding of state and local tax policies and procedures related to the products and services provided by Equifax Inc. and its subsidiaries throughout the United States. The individual will also be responsible for communicating this information to management and for assisting with the implementation of tax law changes within the organization. The senior tax accountant will be primarily responsible for compliance activities, including reconciliations, related to the various areas of state and local tax, including but not limited to: transaction taxes (sales & use) and property taxes.
What you’ll do
Reconciliation of general ledger detail to billing detail and Vertex tax reports
A detailed understanding and use of Vertex tax application software
A detailed knowledge of and ability to utilize Oracle software platform
Research and analyze state and local tax laws to determine the taxability of products and services sold and utilized by Equifax Inc. & Subsidiaries
State tax audit mitigation related to sales, use and property tax
Review and resolution of state tax notices—including preparation of letters of understanding and memorandums detailing actions taken by the company
Preparation of business registration documents
Administrative tasks related to maintenance of state and local tax electronic files
What experience you need
3-5 years of sales and use tax compliance consulting and support services
3-5 years of Oracle/General Ledger
Research skillset (BNA, Thompson Reuters)
Strong oral and written communication skillset
A high proficiency in data manipulation and analytics using Excel, Google Sheets, etc.
