Indigo Research Mentor
Indigo Research matches highly motivated high school students with academic mentors to complete college-level independent research projects, such as literature reviews, research papers, or applied work like apps. As a mentor, you'll guide a student through scoping, researching, and writing their project over a multi-month engagement, working remotely via video call.
This is rewarding work that asks for genuine commitment. Students depend on their mentors for consistent guidance, thoughtful feedback, and sustained investment in their growth as young researchers.
Who we're looking for:
PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, lecturers, or professors currently affiliated with a top-30 US or top-20 UK university
Demonstrated independent research output in your field (published papers, conference work, thesis, or equivalent)
Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or advising students - ideally with undergraduates or high school students
Genuine interest in working with high schoolers on long-form projects, including the patience required to scaffold college-level work for a pre-college audience
Cross-cultural fluency, with the ability to communicate effectively with a globally diverse student body
Steady availability and engagement throughout the mentorship
Comfortable with two-way feedback, both with students and the program team
Skills Required

What We Do
Indigo Research provides academic research mentorship and high-school research programs. It connects students with expert mentors, including professors, researchers, and PhD specialists, to develop rigorous research skills, pursue projects across STEM, humanities, social sciences, and AI, and work toward publication, competitions, conferences, and stronger college applications. Its offerings include one-on-one and seasonal programs, research-methods instruction, hands-on projects, and publication support.
