Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Development and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with the Indigenous Affairs Director and team to create, implement, and monitor the RAP in alignment with Sodexo’s values and strategic goals.
  • Build partnerships with Indigenous Australians, Native Title Custodians, and Traditional Owner groups to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Establish measurable objectives and track progress to ensure accountability across the organization.
  • Support internal stakeholders in achieving RAP targets and hold them accountable for delivery.
  • Prepare and distribute reports related to the RAP for internal and external stakeholders.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and support Indigenous Mentor and Community Liaison Officers to foster respect, inclusivity, and community engagement.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for team members, ensuring their growth and effectiveness.
  • Embed culturally safe practices as part of business as usual.

Community Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with Traditional Owners and Indigenous communities, ensuring their perspectives are integral to our practices.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Indigenous stakeholders and facilitate community consultations for feedback.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the capacity of Indigenous individuals, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends and issues to position Sodexo as a leader in Indigenous Affairs.

Operational Support:

  • Provide guidance to frontline managers and coordinate services related to Indigenous Affairs.
  • Travel to sites as directed by the Indigenous Affairs Director.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to identify service delivery improvements.

Business Development Support:

  • Work with the Business Development team to incorporate Traditional Owner engagement strategies in bids.
  • Ensure compliance with cultural protocols while showcasing our commitment to reconciliation and inclusion in tenders.

Reporting and Tracking:

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the RAP and Indigenous engagement initiatives, providing updates to leadership.
  • Use data and feedback to drive improvements in employment and retention activities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences, Business Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in Indigenous affairs leadership, community engagement, or similar roles within a corporate environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role, with a background in service environments and collaboration with Indigenous communities.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Indigenous culture, reconciliation principles, and related issues in Australia.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in team management and development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in data analysis to drive decision-making and track progress.
