Main Purpose of Job:

The Senior Business Data Analyst acts as the interface between business data domain stakeholders and the Data Teams. This role captures, analyses, and supports prioritisation requests for data services, works closely with the various IT and business teams to define data services aligned with the business processes, and provides business context to the data. Coordinates businessasusual data operations, ensuring clear business communication of status and outcomes. The role blends business analysis of data, products, projects, and processes, enabling data services management and business data literacy. Contribute to data platform management activities, including business data endorsements, workspace administration, and support for functional domain teams. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate the intake process for data, reporting, analytics and BI requests for given KPIs.
  • Capture requirements, validate business objectives with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Definition of the data service level agreements (SLAs) and creation of runbooks for data services management of the quality data, reporting and KPI catalogues, enabling an AI-driven data strategy.
  • Providing a meaningful business context to the data.
  • Tracking and reporting data service metrics (data request volumes, SLA adherence, MTTR) and identifying patterns and implementing continuous improvements of data quality.
  • Facilitation of various workshops and meetings, such as requirements, solution design, etc.
  • Owning business glossary, data catalogues, data dictionaries, etc.
  • Conduct business process training and onboarding sessions for new power users; develop knowledge base articles and FAQs.
  • Owns the Data Functional Requirements, Testing, User Acceptance Test & Data Certification from Bronze to Silver to Gold.

Key Deliverables:

  • Define and own publishing SLAs, runbooks and various business & data catalogues.
  • Regular performance measurement of service levels and user satisfaction.
  • Accurate, actionable requirement specifications, business data models forming gold data assets that are usable for business self-service reports, dashboards and KPIs.
  • Define and own training materials, knowledge base.
  • Identification of business processes and data quality improvement opportunities.
  • Delivers ISS Data Value mapping against the market Data Assets. 

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

(Essential)

  • 8+ years in business analysis, data service management or similar roles (such as data product ownership roles).
  • Shipping agency or Maritime experience is a MUST
  • Strong requirements gathering methodologies 
  • Experience driving data literacy programmes or creating training materials.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills; ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.

(Desirable)

  • Exposure to data governance practices (metadata management, data quality, stewardship).
  • Knowledge of agile delivery methodologies
  • Experience with ticketing and collaboration tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with data modelling concepts, medallion architecture, Data platforms such as MS Fabric, Power BI, SQL etc., able to understand and challenge technical data solutions
  • Solid grasp of BPM/business data management. 

Education and Professional Qualifications:

(Essential)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.

(Desirable)

  • Certification in DAMA or BA preferred.
  • Data Product Proficiency Certifications
