About the team
UGC – Ratings & Reviews (Walmart eCommerce)
The User-Generated Content (UGC) – Ratings & Reviews team at Walmart eCommerce builds and operates the platform that collects, moderates, stores, and serves customer content—especially product ratings and written reviews—across Walmart’s web and mobile experiences.
What the team owns
Ratings & Reviews services & APIs: ingestion, validation, storage, retrieval, and delivery to web/mobile clients
Customer experience integration: review modules on product pages, search/browse surfaces, and post-purchase journeys
Scale & reliability: high traffic and large data volume with strong SLAs, low latency, and high availability
Trust & quality: spam/fraud reduction, content policy enforcement, and moderation workflows (rules + ML/automation)
Data & insights: pipelines and storage for analytics, reporting, and experimentation to improve conversion and trust
Operational excellence: monitoring, alerting, incident response, automation, and continuous performance tuning
Why it matters
Ratings & Reviews directly impact customer trust, conversion, and product discoverability. At Walmart scale, even small gains in latency, uptime, and content quality can drive significant customer and business outcomes.
How the team works
Cross-functional: partners with Product, Program, Business, and Engineering teams across the U.S. and India
Cloud-native & distributed: microservices-based systems using streaming, search, NoSQL, and strong observability
Outcome-driven: focuses on measurable metrics such as content freshness, API latency, uptime, moderation accuracy, MTTD/MTTR, and SLAs
What You’ll Do
Technical Ownership & Delivery

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Product, Business, Program, and Engineering in the U.S. and India
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Drive operational excellence through strong monitoring, alerting, automation, and incident management
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes
Improve reliability metrics (MTTD, MTTR, SLAs) and optimize performance/cost where applicable
Advocate and implement best practices in security, resilience, CI/CD, testing, and developer productivity
