About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Manager to support the design and planning of eBay Australia's Incubation Category Strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Operations, the successful candidate will support the generation of strategies for new categories that align with the company's longer term business objectives. Sitting in a high-impact and visible team that works closely with the business’ leaders, the candidate will be in a unique position to influence the direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and size opportunities in categories that align with the Australian business long-term business objectives.
  • Conduct research, including market and competitor analysis, to support business cases for potential new categories and define/refine strategies and the tactics deployed to launch and manage them over three-year timeframes.
  • Analyse business data and track key performance metrics, monitor category and product trends and provide recommendations for the pre-launch phases of incubation categories.
  • Support the development of test plans for buyer and seller strategies to drive supply and demand in identified categories.
  • Network across global category teams to understand current and future strategies, tools, and levers we could deploy to support new category launches.
  • Develop detailed operational plans, working in close collaboration with the cross-functional teams, including marketing, seller teams, trust, shipping and finance

A successful Incubation Planning Manager will demonstrate:

  • A strong sense of ownership and natural curiosity
  • Solid analytical, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams.
  • Strong ability to gather and analyse data to form insights and recommendations.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in retail, operations or business management and/or consulting.
