Position Summary
Caris is looking for an experienced and proactive Income Tax Manager to join our dynamic tax team. This is a high exposure role with a lot of potential future growth. Reporting to the Director of Tax, the Income Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the income tax compliance, reporting, and provision processes, ensuring timely and accurate filings, as well as strategic planning to optimize the organization’s tax positions.
Job Responsibilities
Review federal, state and local, and foreign income tax returns, and indirect (use & property) tax returns to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with tax laws.
Lead the preparation of the Company’s income tax provision (ASC 740) on a quarterly and annual basis. Track attributes, record tax entries, and reconcile tax-related accounts within the GL.
Assist in identifying and implementing tax planning strategies to minimize income tax liabilities. Evaluate the tax impact of mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring.
Conduct tax research and provide technical expertise on a variety of issues including domestic tax laws, incentives and credits, and changes to tax codes.
Coordinate the income tax audit process, including preparing documentation, managing information requests, and collaborating with tax authorities. Work with external auditors and tax advisors to address tax audit and provision-related queries.
Mentor and manage junior tax staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the accurate and timely execution of tax-related tasks.
Identify opportunities for process improvements in tax compliance and provision workflows. Develop and implement strategies to reduce tax-related risks and improve the overall efficiency of the tax function.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in income tax, with 2 years + in a managerial or supervisory role.
Minimum of 5 years of overall experience, can be a mix of public and industry, working with public companies.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax laws and regulations.
Strong knowledge of ASC 740 principles.
Preferred Qualifications
MSA (Master of Science in Accounting) or MST (Master of Science in Taxation) or equivalent advanced tax degree is a plus.
Hands on experience with OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, Sage Fixed Assets, Checkpoint, Alteryx, and Oracle.
Experience with technology or biotechnology/medical companies.
Physical Demands
Must possess ability to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for long periods of time.

May be required to work weekends and holidays during certain periods of the calendar year.
