Improvement Engineer

Position Summary:

Develop and implement site continuous improvement initiatives through project execution, deliver process safety excellence and technology standardization for FMC Jinshan site.

Location: China - Shanghai, JinShan

The Role:

PSM/MOC

  • Support the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) program, specifically the Process Safety Information (PSI) and cyclical Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) process, in alignment with goals from the global PSM team.

  • Implement organizational productivity measures to monitor and benchmark improvement results (sustainability, OAUs etc.)

  • Plan, co-ordinate, schedule and audit the changes of the related process equipment, e.g. new installations and process optimizations

  • Responsible for site MOC-PC initiatives, act as site MOC initiator

Continuous Improvement/CAPEX/OPEX project execution

  • Responsible for installation and improvement of equipment and facilities to meet established global objectives in safety, quality, production, cost reduction

  • Identify and implement improvement projects and opportunities for Jinshan site’s KPI excellence

  • Responsible for maintaining documentations / SOPs according to project and/or process improvement projects

  • Develop and implement capital projects to deliver cost reduction / capacity expansion and legal requirement by following FMC Capital Deployment Process

  • Conducting the communication with design institute / engineering company for capital project execution

EHS/Compliance

  • Provide technical support to site EHS team to drive compliance with local law and regulations in Health, Safety, Security and Environmental.

Production Support

  • Evaluates OAU (operational asset utilization) data and generates specific reports that identify production performance improvement opportunities to be pursued by other work processes

  • Plan, fulfill and allocate the utility resources for whole site operation

  • Troubleshooting and RCA for production issues and unit operation abnormal performance

Sustainability

  • Collect and evaluate site sustainability data including utility consumption, waste generation and CO2 emission and report to corporate sustainability team

  • Identify and develop sustainability projects and support site roadmap towards FMC 2035 net-zero goal

  • Network with SCIP (Shanghai Chemical Industry Park) to exchange information on green energy policy and potential opportunities

Technical Exchange and Support Global Diamide Strategy

  • Actively participate in technology transfer with global tech center and Mobile site for technology leverage and process standardization

  • Act as key technology contributor to support global tech center and regulatory team on diamide registration renewal to meet regulations along the globe and develop sustainable process

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor Degree and above, preferably majored in Chemical Engineering

  • Above 5 years experience (MSc 3+ years) in chemical plant operation in the multi-national chemical company, experience with design institute would be a plus

  • Strong safety orientation in OSHA and PSM.

  • General understanding of business processes and economic factors affecting the business

  • Knowledge of quality assurance programs or statistical quality control

  • Demonstrated commitment to Personal Safety & Environmental issues.

  • Good knowledge of equipment design, scale-up, troubleshooting and project management skills

  • Good team player, self-motivated with good communication and influencing skills

  • Must good command of oral and written English, be able to deliver presentation and participate telecons in English environment

Skills Required
