Import Coordinator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Import Coordinator with a background in underwriting to join our dynamic logistics and operations team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of international shipping, import regulations, and risk assessment practices. This hybrid role requires the candidate to manage end-to-end import logistics while applying underwriting principles to assess and mitigate risk in the shipment and customs clearance process

Ensure products arrive to the correct locations timely, while certifying all safety regulations are met when moving between state/province/region/territory lines. Responsible for the accurate filing of Customer Profile entries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate international import shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation.

• Prepare and review shipping and customs documentation (e.g., BOL, commercial invoices, packing lists).

• Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory agencies.

• Evaluate insurance coverage and assess shipment risk from an underwriting perspective.

• Maintain accurate records of all imports, ensuring compliance with internal policies and government regulations.

• Support claims processing and loss prevention strategies.

• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., legal, finance, compliance) to resolve discrepancies or delays.

• Identify and recommend risk mitigation strategies in transport and warehousing.

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in import coordination or logistics.

• 1–2 years of underwriting or risk assessment experience strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with customs regulations, HTS codes, Incoterms, and trade compliance.

• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

• Proficiency in MS Office and logistics software (e.g., SAP, CargoWise, etc.).

Pay Range:$19.18 - $32.40
