The Team:

The candidate will be part of the Index Management & Production Group (IMPG) which is responsible for the maintenance and calculation of S&P Dow Jones Indices which includes a wide range of high profile global indices including the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Responsibilities and Impact:

The IMPG team seeks to attract high achievers from a pool of undergraduate and postgraduate institutions. As an intern, you will get exposure to several teams within the S&P Dow Jones Indices Index Management and Production Group. Exceptional learning agility, time management, and analytical skills are necessary for your success. You will be able to apply your skills to real-world industry scenarios, gain experience in communicating in a professional environment and contribute to key projects that are critical to the calculation of S&P Dow Jones Indices.

IMPG interns have the opportunity to assist S&P Dow Jones Indices with achieving its mission to provide benchmarks that accurately gauge the markets and help institutions and individuals make well-informed decisions.

Interns will also be provided with the chance to meet with and network with senior business leaders and other employees within the organization.

  • Interns will spend a significant amount of time utilizing excel to conduct data analysis
  • Perform analytical research on companies for S&P’s annual IWF (Investable Weight Factor) review
  • Managing index specific projects and deadlines
  • Utilize various data vendors to support the maintenance of indices
  • Maintain key relationships within index operations
  • Work in close coordination with the operations group to discuss analytical research and improve operational efficiencies

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base hourly wage for this position will be 30 USD.

What We’re Looking For:

  • All majors eligible; Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, and Finance majors preferred with expected graduation date in 2025/2026.
  • Coursework in Math, Quantitative methods, Econometrics and other quantitative areas are ideal
  • Must be able to work independently on projects
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving, time-management, attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Understanding of financial markets
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA, Python or Matlab (not required)
