Immunohistochemistry Technologist - Cincinnati, OH, Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Pay range: $25.68+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

The Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Technologist position is intended for individuals with prior experience working in the IHC area performing all aspects of IHC. The individual in this position will perform all routine IHC functions, as well as handle some more complex tasks. The individual will work under limited supervision, provide guidance to technical staff and may lead some projects. This position is also intended for individuals who meet the educational and training requirements outlined in the Minimum Qualifications for Personnel Performing Immunohistochemistry Testing policy, but may not have prior histopathology training and/or experience (i.e. medical technologists, cytotechnologists, other degreed individuals without routine histology experience).
Responsibilities- Performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the staining of IHC slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures.
- Prepare solutions and reagents for IHC procedures.
- Validate and verify performance of IHC primary antibodies.
- Obtain and validate control tissue used in IHC procedures.
- Provide training and guidance on IHC staining processes to newly hired IHC Technologists, as well as Histotechnicians / Histotechnologists, students and lab aides that may perform IHC related processes.
- Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies and documents all quality control activities; has the ability to recognize outliers and correct them.
- Differentiate acceptable and unacceptable staining of IHC control slides.
- May be required to develop, execute, or validate new procedures.
- Capable of identifying problems that may affect test performance or reporting of test results and resolve or immediately report to histology supervisor/manager, technical supervisor or director.
- Capable of completing daily, routine IHC functions without supervision.
- Appropriately handle proficiency test samples and associated documentation.
- Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
- Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
Required Work Experience:
1 year Immunohistochemistry experience
Preferred Work Experience:
Previous histopathology experience
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
Skills:
- Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills within department as well as with other functions within the company and third parties (i.e..clients)
- Must have the ability to establish work priorities for self and others and handle several procedures simultaneously including troubleshooting instruments and other problems/issues.
- Ability to schedule and manage resources to meet department goals.
- Must protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Education
- Associates Degree (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Qualification in Immunohistochemistry Q(IHC) (Preferred)
- Meet state licensure requirements, if applicable. (Required)
- Meets all requirements as outlined in corporate Minimum Qualifications for Personnel Performing Immunohistochemistry Testing SOP (Required)
