General Purpose:

 The Immigration Specialist II is a senior-level support role within the Immigration Practice Group.  This position independently manages complex and high-volume immigration matters, drafts advanced case materials, oversees workflow tracking, and serves as a resource and mentor to junior team members.  The Specialist II is expected to demonstrate seasoned judgment, deep knowledge of immigration processes, and high-level organizational and analytical skills.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Billable Duties/Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare and manage complex nonimmigrant visa petitions.
  • Manage PERM matters from initiation through completion, including audits, recruitment tracking, and document analysis, with attorney oversight.
  • Draft advanced support letters, affidavits, and factual and legal argument sections for petitions and RFE responses.
  • Draft persuasive, structured factual narratives for filings requiring higher-level analysis.
  • Conduct advanced immigration and legal research to support complex matters.
  • Review work prepared by Immigration Specialist I team members for accuracy and completeness before attorney review.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing in compliance with firm policies. This role typically bills approximately 800 hours per year, but hours may fluctuate based on group needs.

Non-Billable Duties/Responsibilities

  • Independently maintain, audit, and quality-control case information in LawLogix, ensuring accuracy across client portfolios.
  • Run detailed immigration reports (e.g., upcoming expirations, PERM status, H-1B cap tracking) and flag deadlines or trends for attorneys.
  • Identify upcoming renewal cycles, workload spikes, or process gaps and communicate proactively to the team.
  • Lead intake of government mail for the practice group, providing initial categorization and identifying needed next steps before routing to attorneys.
  • Prepare and send comprehensive approval, receipt packets, and ensure full compliance with iManage tagging and N drive file organization.
  • Develop and maintain advanced client tracking spreadsheets, dashboards, and expiration calendars.
  • Mentor and train Immigration Specialist and Immigration Specialist I team members on processes, LawLogix data entry, tracking, and file standards.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives, including template updates, workflow efficiencies, checklists, and best practices.
  • Provide administrative support for client meetings, presentations, and attorney-led trainings.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all file naming conventions, document tagging, and data entry across the team.

Supervisory Duties:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may mentor Immigration Specialist and Immigration Specialist I team members.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certification):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three to five years of business immigration experience required.
  • Additional education (associate degree, bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of employment-based immigration processes and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex case types.
  • Advanced writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and outstanding organizational skills required.
  • Prior experience with data management and reporting and Microsoft.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee must have the ability to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; manipulate (lift, carry, move) weights of at least ten (10) pounds; have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on a computer and/or related office equipment; speak clearly and concisely so listeners can understand; and regularly understand the speech of another person.

Work Environment:

Schedule:

At this time, this position allows for a hybrid schedule, generally in-office three per week with Wednesday being a required day in the office.  Additional days in-office may be required depending on business need and the demands of specific tasks.  The hybrid work structure may change at any time, including the number of in-office day requirement.

Compensation:

Holland & Hart offers of employment take into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.  A discretionary bonus may be available based upon performance.  The Colorado salary range is $32.94 to $54.90 per hour.  A discretionary bonus may be available based upon performance.
