Sr. Azure Engineer Job Description
Key Responsibilities for Sr. Azure Engineer
- Manage and administer the Microsoft Azure cloud tenants, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security
- Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure tenants
- Support Azure cloud team as required during the logical design, sizing, interoperability, scaling, and security aspects that would affect the IAM solution hosted on Azure cloud tenant
- Migrate existing on-premise infrastructure services to Azure cloud relative to IAM infrastructure
- Manage security and access controls of Azure cloud tenant/s
- Strong expertise for AzureDevOps, SDLC, containers, microservices, and APIs
- Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) applying cloud native tooling to ensure automated and consistent platform deployments
- Ensure Azure Cloud infrastructure components for IAM meets proper performance and capacity standards
- Participate in 24/7 on-call or as required to address and resolve technical escalations related to Azure Cloud infrastructure
Additional Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, implement, and support the hybrid on-prem and cloud Active Directory environment and Azure Active Directory/Entra ID.
- Collaborate with business and technical partners to integrate systems and applications with centralized authentication such as Active Directory or Azure Active Directory/Entra ID.
- Provide subject matter knowledge and expertise on Active Directory, Azure Active Directory/Entra ID and Okta/Auth0 Active Directory synchronization.
- Maintain Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) environments and Entra ID Enterprise Applications respectively
- Perform regular health checks and proactively resolve issues to avoid negative impacts to production systems.
- Continually monitor the performance and capacity baselines of the authentication platforms and recommend and implement enhancements.
- Lead response and resolution of complex, high severity incidents
- Lead regular reviews of deployed infrastructure, develop detailed architecture, and create and update new technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures. (SOP)
- Analyze the current authentication services platforms to identify both technical and operational opportunities for enhancements and develop continuous improvement action plans.
- Assist Operation Analysts in troubleshooting EntraID and ADFS issues as reported by business users
- Provide on-call support as needed for operational continuity of Azure IAM platforms.
- Support requests for audit and any required remediation activities.
Qualifications for Sr. Azure Engineer
- Candidates must have prior relative experience and be passionate about the MS Azure Cloud and EntraID
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Information Security and/or Identity and Access management.
- 3+ years of experience with Cloud IAM preferably with MS Azure EntraID, CyberArk SailPoint IIQ, Identity governance, provisioning, user lifecycle operations, federation, MFA, FIDO2 and new Application onboarding.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions
- Solid Experience in IaC development with Terraform, Azure CLI, Puppet, and Ansible
- Some Experience scripting with Perl, Python and PowerShell
- Knowledge of deploying applications using CICD tools with one of the following, Jenkins, Terraform, Bitbucket, etc Preference will be given to candidate with expertise in Terraform.
- Ability to work across multiple team settings and collaborate efficiently across different teams
