Role Title: Senior Legal Associate

Reports to: Legal Operations Manager

Location: India – Pune

Terms & Conditions: Full time, right to work required

The Ice Cream business is operating in a highly attractive category, as we are part of the 1 trillion snacking and refreshment industry, growing consistently at high pace. We have strong brands equities: 5 of top 10 selling brands including Wall’s, Magnum, Ben &Jerry’s. We are investing to unlock the full growth potential of Ice Cream as a standalone entity, once we separate from Unilever, which is planned to happen by November 2025.

JOB SUMMARY AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Legal Associate will be part of the Ice Cream Legal Powerhouse which is part of the legal function and provide defined, structured services to the team and to the broader business and will be responsible for:

To support (i) the Global Business Integrity Team in their business partnering, core compliance and investigations to ensure we help the business perform with integrity and (ii) to be the first point of contact for our brands and functions as they navigate IC’s privacy processes.

This role requires a strong sense of ethics, excellent communication skills, ability to work with data and a passion for creating a positive impact.

Responsibilities:

Business Integrity

- Have a key role in the management of the speak up programme, producing reports, ensuring timely and quality closure of cases, as well as providing guidance and feedback to investigators

- Perform quality control checks on investigations reports and outcomes, ensuring alignment with IC policies and standards

 - Triage and resolve conflict of interest and gifts & hospitality disclosures, applying a risk-based approach and escalating issues as appropriate

- Mitigate third party red flag risks by engaging with subject matter experts and different parts of the business

- Support our global Business Integrity efforts ensuring IC employees complete mandatory learning programs

- Collaborate with other functions and regions to promote a culture of integrity and ethical leadership across IC

Data Privacy

Supporting the markets:

  • Acting as first point of contact for our brands and functions during the privacy risk assessment process.
  • Supporting data protection advisors in the legal team in markets to handle Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and Privacy Risk Assessments (PRAs).
  • Supporting operational privacy tasks such as data mapping.
  • Work collaboratively with our local data protection advisors and Central Data Privacy Legal team and Business stakeholders on new global projects, including by supporting on global privacy risk assessments.
  • Reporting on trends in privacy requests / issues, producing standard reports and supporting the team’s agenda to become more data driven in decisions.

Protecting our consumers and employees

  • Managing updates to the global privacy notice and acting as first point of contact for individuals who contact IC centrally with privacy queries.
  • Managing the process to control access to documentation.
  • Supporting the central Data Privacy Legal team to ensure that IC employees are trained on privacy.

Key Interfaces

This is a people’s job potentially interfacing with all employees across the globe. Key stakeholders include:

• Business Integrity and the broader Legal function

• Subject matter experts in areas like information security, occupational health, human resources, quality, competition, privacy, etc.

• Third party compliance teams

 • Data privacy team

Key Skills Relevant Experience

• Professional qualification in Law.

• Ethics and compliance operations

• Privacy experience or alternatively proven experience in compliance or risk sector.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management. Essential

• Min 5 years hands-on experience in matters related to compliance, investigations, regulatory, case management or other relevant area for a global ethics and compliance team.

• 5 years industry experience working within a large complex business environment requiring analysis of data and making balanced risk decisions.

• Providing risk based advice on different types of compliance interactions.

• Achieving outcomes and results by influencing the way resources not in your control are utilised.

• Attention to detail.

• Ability to work with colleagues across multiple time zones and countries.

• Willingness and drive for process excellence.

• Experience using Microsoft tools to manage and visualize data, especially Excel or PowerBI

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferable

  • Experience within a consumer goods or retail environment.
  • Broader ability across Microsoft tools like Sharepoint, Power Automate, so the jobholder can innovate and improve ways of working around documentation, flow management, etc.
