I&C Designer

iParametrics is seeking Instrumentation and I&C Designers for a significant Department of Energy nuclear project. The I&C Designers will be responsible to read, interpret and generate design drawings and 3D modeling with minimal input from the engineering staff. Must have the ability to walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate minor design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct junior drafters.
We are filling multiple positions that vary between hybrid and onsite in Houston, Aiken SC, and Greenville SC. For hybrid positions, a two-week in-person training will be required, followed by remote work. Onsite positions require candidates to be willing to relocate.
Responsibilities: 

• Under direct supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Area Lead Engineer, analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to problems of intermediate complexity in accordance with project requirements. Develop and review specifications and design criteria
• Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment and systems; and solve technical problems of intermediate complexity
• Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors and clients
• Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures
• Execute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost and schedule baselines
• Establish, control and report on material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
• Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations and review of vendor submittals
• Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes
• Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

• Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, design or another field related to the position from an accredited university.
• Must have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in design and drafting related to engineering and construction.
• Must be able to Perform a broad range of I&C design activities, including design definition, control systems architecture and development, digital systems, PLC, DCS, network configuration, logic development, network switches, process controls, P&ID development support and review, HMI, communication protocols, routing, and layout, SIL, and procurement activities 
• CAD proficiency with demonstrated experience with computer aided drafting applications to originate and produce drawings with minimum supervision.
• Background and experience must include drafting/designer experience in instrumentation and control systems within the electrical field. This may include cable trays, conduits, electrical panels, instrument locations, safety systems, and alarm systems. 
• The Department of Energy requires US citizenship to be authorized to work on this project.
