The Enterprise Data Platforms Organization enables the business functions with an integrated and intuitive Enterprise platform services in the field of Databases, Integrations, Data Movement and Analytical Platform services.

Role Summary:

Lilly's core data-movement pipes open around the clock — IBM MQ Series for message-based integration and Aspera for high-speed, file-based transfer. Operational skills: continuous availability, throughput, and rapid incident response matter more than any single platform's internals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer IBM MQ Series: queue manager configuration, clustering, channel security, and high-availability/DR failover.
  • Administer Aspera: FASP protocol tuning, Faspex and Orchestrator configuration, node management, and license administration.
  • Strong knowledge of MQ architecture: Queue Managers, Channels, Clusters, Triggers, Dead Letter Queues, MQ Explorer, MQSC commands.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting using logs, MQ Explorer, JMS tools, and monitoring dashboards (Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, etc.).
  • Familiarity with scripting (Shell, Python, or PowerShell) for automation of routine support tasks.
  • Install, configure, and administer IBM MQ (Queue Managers, Channels, Queues, Listeners) across Dev/QA/UAT/Production environments.
  • Monitor MQ infrastructure for performance bottlenecks, queue depth issues, channel failures, and connectivity problems.
  • Perform MQ upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Configure SSL/TLS for security, authentication, and authorization for MQ objects.
  • Troubleshoot message flow issues between producers/consumers (JMS, MFT, MQSeries clients).
  • Monitor MQ queue depths, channel status, and Aspera transfer throughput; respond to and resolve alerts within SLA.
  • Manage large-file transfer SLAs — diagnose slow or failed transfers, tune bandwidth/rate policies, and validate encryption-in-transit configuration.
  • Perform first-line triage on message and file delivery failures across both platforms; escalate to platform engineering when root cause requires deeper investigation.
  • Execute routine operational tasks: patching, certificate renewals, capacity/queue-depth monitoring, backup verification.
  • Maintain runbooks and incident documentation per Lilly IT standards.
  • Carry primary rotational on-call responsibility during weekends

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience administering or developing on IBM MQ Series (queue managers, channels, clustering) & Managed File Transfer
  • 5+ hands-on experience administering IBM MQ Series
  • Hands-on experience with Aspera (FASP tuning, Faspex/Orchestrator administration).
  • Working knowledge of encryption-in-transit standards (TLS/SSL) as applied to file and message transport.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independent in a reliability engineering and Operations team with a coverage in a production environment.
  • Strong incident triage and troubleshooting skills under SLA pressure.

Key Attributes :

  •  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, incident-driven environment.
  • Team player with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
  • Willingness to work in shifts/on-call rotations as required by business needs.
  • Understanding ITIL processes — Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure during production incidents.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • IBM Certified Engineers on MQ Series and Managed File Transfer.
