This leader will be responsible for driving the strategy, engineering, modernization, security, and operational excellence of Wells Fargo's privileged access capabilities, ensuring secure access to critical systems, applications, cloud platforms, and infrastructure across the enterprise.
The Technical Director will lead teams responsible for the engineering, deployment, automation, integration, and lifecycle management of PAM technologies while partnering closely with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Identity Management, Risk, Compliance, and Application Development teams. This role requires a strong combination of technical leadership, strategic vision, people management, and execution excellence to deliver scalable and resilient privileged access solutions that support the firm's security and regulatory objectives.
In this role, you will:
- Manage a team of engineering managers, engineering leads, and highly skilled IAM and PAM engineers.
- Lead the strategic direction, engineering roadmap, and modernization efforts for enterprise Privileged Access Management platforms and services.
- Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise cybersecurity, technology, and regulatory priorities.
- Build support for PAM strategies with business leaders, technology organizations, cybersecurity partners, and executive stakeholders.
- Guide development of actionable roadmaps and multi-year plans focused on automation, resiliency, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevSecOps, automation, and platform engineering capabilities.
- Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering, platform engineering, and security engineering practices.
- Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, recoverability, and scalability of PAM solutions developed internally or delivered through third-party providers.
- Lead engineering efforts supporting privileged account lifecycle management, credential vaulting, session management, privileged access controls, secrets management, and cloud privilege security capabilities.
- Partner with Cybersecurity, Risk, Compliance, Audit, Infrastructure, and Application teams to ensure PAM solutions align with enterprise policies, regulatory expectations, and security standards.
- Establish engineering standards, operational metrics, service-level objectives, and reliability measures for PAM platforms and services.
- Drive platform modernization initiatives including cloud integration, automation, API-based service delivery, and adoption of emerging security technologies.
- Identify financial management opportunities and strategic resourcing plans to support business and technology objectives.
- Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk reduction and remediation initiatives.
- Lead regulatory, audit, and compliance activities related to privileged access controls and security governance.
- Develop strategies for attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering and cybersecurity talent.
- Lead implementation of strategic projects while fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals, including senior technology leaders, cybersecurity executives, and business stakeholders.
- Lead teams to achieve operational, strategic, and transformational objectives.
- Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies, industry forums, and strategic technology vendors as required.
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership.
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement to meet business objectives and strategy.
- 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience.
- Experience leading enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) or Privileged Access Management (PAM) engineering organizations.
- Deep knowledge of privileged access management concepts including credential vaulting, session monitoring, privileged account lifecycle management, secrets management, and least privilege principles.
- Experience engineering and supporting enterprise PAM platforms such as CyberArk, Delinea, BeyondTrust, HashiCorp Vault, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience securing privileged access across on-premises, hybrid, and public cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of identity security, Zero Trust principles, authentication, authorization, and access governance frameworks.
- Experience implementing automation solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting, APIs, and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience partnering with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit organizations.
- Proven success leading large-scale security transformation, modernization, or platform engineering initiatives.
- Experience managing highly available, resilient, and mission-critical security platforms.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within highly regulated industries, including financial services.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical strategy and operational performance to senior executives and key stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CyberArk Defender/Sentry, Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator, or related security certifications are preferred.

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
