The hourly range reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position at the time of posting. Within the range, exact compensation will be determined based on education/training, skill set, experience, and other organizational needs.
Shift Differential Pay:
Graveyard - $1.50

SUMMARY
Participates in the maintenance function of supporting the facility by performing mechanical duties on industrial Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC, GUH, AMU, RTU, Refrigerant/Glycol Chiller units) equipment. Uses blue prints, schematics and manuals to install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot Heating and Air Conditioning machinery. Inform supervisory personnel about maintenance requirements and parts/supplies needed to repair equipment. Trains others on the maintenance team. Ensures facility complies with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, etc). Conduct and documents routine inspections and perform maintenance or repairs on equipment and HVAC systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, however other duties may be assigned:

• Promotes and adheres to company safety rules and regulations; Works in a safe manner and utilizes personal protective equipment and observes safety policies such as Lock Out/Tag Out procedures to ensure personal safety; Knowledge of and demonstrated skill in practicing safety requirements and standards when working with hazardous chemicals, HVAC equipment, and/or electrical systems

• Knowledge of and demonstrated skill in equipment and system operations sufficient to lead others in providing required service and maintenance

• Assists other mechanics to carry out their duties

• Resolve problems using technical analysis and creativity

• Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity

• Perform welding functions, including Tig, Mig, Solder and Silver Solder

• Document work in computerized maintenance system detailing the events of the day and logging information regarding machine condition

• Ability to coordinate and lead a crew by setting task priorities, scheduling, and maintaining labor/materials requirements (HVAC Service Contracts; Oversee completion of work and ensure proper documentation of these services are kept up to date)

• Knowledge of basic carpentry, buildings maintenance, and plumbing as needed to support department needs

• Owns proper tools for the job as specified by the company

• Knowledge of and demonstrated skill in electrical, mechanical and advanced refrigeration used in operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment and systems

• Operates and understands the function of a forklift

• Communicate openly as needed to supervisor and/or appropriate personnel

• Attend and participate in all annual, departmental, job specific required training, and monthly informational meetings

• Keeps area clean (Roof tops & mezzanine areas) and associated areas and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)

• Works with and manages contractors and associated HVAC related projects

• Participates in continuous improvement process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience with demonstrated knowledge of commercial HVAC and refrigeration fundamentals and equipment; including chilled water/glycol systems, air handling units, pneumatic controls and various refrigeration units. Must have a mechanical and electrical aptitude. Must be able to interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams and measuring instruments. Knowledge of safety codes and regulatory requirements, as well as a valid driver's license are required. Must possess the understanding and ability to identify refrigerant types and applications relating to capacities and evacuation procedures as required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability in mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to determine voltage and convert numbers to metric units. Understand and work with fractions and decimals to make settings, select machine drive components and correctly size tools. Ability to apply math concepts to basic fabrication tasks and calculating heat and air conditioning load specifications.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to recognize mechanical operation of timing and sequence cycles to know when machines are not operating properly.
