EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an HVAC Mechanic in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Assists workers engaged in installation, repair, and service of environmental control systems.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts.
- Cuts, bends, fits, threads, and joins piping and tubing.
- Installs air and water filters.
- Adjust controls as necessary.
- Connects, adjusts, and troubleshoots temperature control systems.
- Lubricates fans, motors, and control units.
- Other duties as required.

Basic Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 7 years of experience troubleshooting, servicing, repairing and/or replacing medium to large commercial HVAC (not residential) systems with minimal supervision.
- 5 years' experience at the Journeyman level.
- Prior experience with a 24/7 critical facility.
- Current Journeyman HVAC Licenses in any state
- EPA Certification/CFC Licenses
- Experience reading/following blueprints or engineering specifications.
Essential Job Duties:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for 3 hrs. at a time . The ability to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to perform fine manipulation with fingers and hands.
- Ability to sit for long periods or stand for long periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- K nowledge of Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning systems Including chillers, cooling towers, Computer Room Air Conditioner Units (DX and Chilled water) RTU's, (DX and chilled water) and Air Handling Units
- Certified in stick welding (SMAW)
- Ability to braze and solder all sizes of refrigerant piping
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as necessary.
The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.

Compensation Range
Annual Salary: $51,000.00 - $73,000.00
