As a Human Resource Payroll Coordinator, you will respond to inquiries concerning HR payroll issues, resolve issues through coordination with multiple departments as appropriate.

You will help develop, implement, support, and review all HR department initiatives, policies, procedures and systems.

DEFINITION:


Under general supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Payroll Coordinator role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time while overseeing retirement plans, such as a 401(k) program. The position serves as a liaison between employees, payroll providers, retirement plan administrators, and leadership.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field from an accredited university or equivalent or 2+ years of equivalent experience. Experience in payroll processing and retirement administration. Knowledge of payroll software (Paycom), understanding of tax regulations, retirement plans and employment laws.  Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.



KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


Comprehensive knowledge of payroll administration, retirement programs, payroll tax regulations, employment laws, HR policies, compliance requirements, accounting principles, and HRIS/payroll systems. Skilled in accurately processing payroll, administering retirement benefits, maintaining confidential records, preparing reports, analyzing data, resolving employee inquiries, ensuring regulatory compliance, and using Microsoft Excel and related software. Demonstrates strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, communication, customer service, and the ability to effectively collaborate with employees, vendors, and leadership.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Perform bi-weekly payroll and maintain HRIS and ensure team members are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations.
  • Manage employee retirement programs by coordinating enrollments, contribution changes, distributions, and communications with plan providers.
  • Maintains payroll and personnel records, prepares required reports and audits, and ensures confidentiality and accuracy of employee information.
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll and retirement plans, resolves discrepancies, and provides guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Assists with new employee processing/orientation.
  • Collaborates with leadership, vendors, and team members to support payroll operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote efficient HR services.
  • Must complete Lighthouse required training and resulting follow up and consultation as required at hire, annually and as directed by Supervisor.
  • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested.

Skills Required

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited university, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of equivalent experience if substituting for the degree requirement
  • Experience in payroll processing
  • Experience in retirement administration
  • Knowledge of Paycom or other payroll software
