Responsibilities
- Act as a true HR generalist by overseeing the full recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, onboarding, orientation, and employee set-up for new plant employees as required.
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to the Plant Management Team.
- Prepare and deliver training sessions and presentations as required (e.g., HR policies, compliance, workplace practices).
- Monitor, support, and administer the progressive discipline process in accordance with company policies and collective agreement requirements.
- Support the monitoring and administration of the attendance management program, including preparing documentation and correspondence.
- Implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with company objectives and operational needs.
- Support the implementation of talent management, employee engagement, and employee relations initiatives.
- Ensure all job descriptions remain current, accurate, and compliant with relevant legislation and company standards.
- Analyze staffing needs and maintain appropriate HR documentation and records.
- Assist managers and employees in the interpretation and application of HR policies and programs to ensure consistency and fairness.
- Work closely with the Plant Management Team to ensure compliance with the collective agreement and company policies.
- Collaborate with union representatives and management to address and resolve employee concerns and grievances.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices across the plant.
- Provide support to the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) team and HR Coordinator as required.
- Oversee and manage one direct report, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure effective performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- CPHR designation (or working toward it) is preferred and considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of related HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of Employment Standards legislation and labour relations principles.
- Experience working in a unionized environment, including exposure to grievance handling, investigations, and collective agreement interpretation.
- Experience with Occupational Health & Safety practices and claims management is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with a high sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with HRIS systems such as Ceridian Dayforce is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours when operational needs require.
